TESTIMONIAL

It was a pleasure having Ian and Nicky house and cat sit for us. Everything went smoothly: great communication before and during the sit, easy arrival arrangements, and lots of wonderful updates whilst we were away. They took great care of our home and cats and left everything super neat and tidy with a very thoughtful bunch of flowers and a card. Delightful couple – welcome back anytime!

TESTIMONIAL

Ian and Nicky arrived the evening before we left which was really helpful as my husband was able to show them around so they felt comfortable with everything. Ned and Molly took to them immediately. While we were away, they did a great job of letting us know how everything was going and sent us lovely photos of the cats. They had to deal with a battery failure of the heat sensor in the kitchen and the alarm sounding on it. Ian dealt with this calmly and efficiently, communicating with us throughout. We returned to a beautifully clean and tidy house, happy well fed and groomed cats and a delicious loaf of Nicky’s home baked sourdough. Overall they were fantastic sitters who we would welcome back.

Ian and Nicky looked after our house and pets for 10 days. They are a very friendly and easy going couple, but also conscientious and thoughtful. They are great communicators and we enjoyed our holiday knowing that they were looking after our house. The house was clean and tidy on our return, and the cats and dog content. They are clearly experienced Housesitters, and I would definitly recommend them. We are looking forward to welcoming them back soon. Thank you!

TESTIMONIAL

If you’re considering Ian and Nicky — stop thinking and book them. We just got home and everything is exactly how you hope it will be when you hand over your home and your boys. Buster and Jasper are healthy, happy, and clearly well loved. They were friendly, communicative, and incredibly proactive. Jasper’s ears? Handled. Low dog food? Solved. Drinking water? Refilled before it became an issue. They don’t just watch your pets — they stay ahead of things. Our return to Mexico was delayed (cartel leader headlines + border ripple effects… not our favorite travel plot twist), and they were calm, flexible, zero pressure, and fully supportive while we sorted it out. That kind of grace matters. We walked into a spotless house — and a stocked one. Coffee, eggs, milk, fresh sourdough, cold beer… even fresh flowers in the vases. Who does that? Ian and Nicky do. They treated our home and our boys like family. We’d have them back in a heartbeat. Steve & Bobby approved.

Ian & Nicky were incredible temporary pet parents! I enjoyed them from the start and I know my cat Lulu did too. They were very responsive, proactive and self sufficient and easy to get along with. They stayed at my house for 1 month and were wonderful at keeping me updated with photos/videos of Lulu and they even took a liking to the local street dog that I take care of. Ian & Nicky were the first couple that I have had stay at my house and they have made it easy to say I’d do it again. They took great care of my house and even took special time to make the transition between housesitters very smooth. Don’t hesitate to have Ian & Nicky be your temporary pet parents, I know I’d have them at my house anytime and so would Lulu and Moka.

I’m delighted to recommend Nicky and Ian Mackenzie who cared for my home and my two elderly dogs, Tia and Tango, for 5 weeks in 2025. They handled daily feeding, walking, playtime, and general home care, and did so with genuine kindness and reliability.

I received regular photo updates, which gave me great peace of mind. I returned to a spotless home and two very relaxed, happy and healthy dogs. They treated my home and pets with the same care they would their own.

I would gladly hire Nicky and Ian again and highly recommend them for any house or pet sitting needs.

TESTIMONIAL

Ian and Nicky have house sat for us on two occasions – in 2022 and again in 2023, each time for three months. The invitation to house sit for a second time was a no-brainer for us, since we were very happy with the outcome the first time around.

Ian and Nicky are very experiencved house sitters and were very comfortable dealing with all the things that might crop up during a house sit – nothing seemed to daunt them. They are both very personable and conscientious. They took time to understand our needs and to familiarise themselves with the house and the dogs. If in doubt, they were very happy to ask questions, which we appreciated. We set up a Whatsapp group to keep in touch during the house sits – primarily to deal with any problems or queries that might arise, but Ian and Nicly were also very good at keeping us informed about progress and sending us photos of the dogs and their latest antics.

Ian and Nicky are very well travelled and are comfortable with living in a new environment (they had not been to Brazil before). They enjoyed sampling the local life, being comfortable touring Rio’s sites and enjoying the local facilities in Niteroi.

The house was very well looked after. Ian and Nicky kept us informed of any issues arising (such as the water supply drying up) and helped remedy any problems. The house was immaculate on our return (probably tidier than when we left it).

Most importantly, Ian and Nicky were super-conscientious about looking after our dogs. They clearly have a good rapport with animals and take a great deal of care over them. This was never more evident than during their second house sit with us, when one of our dogs became ill and sadly died. Ian and Nicky went out of their way to make the poor creature comfortable, liaised with others to organise veterinary care, and eventually to see that our dog was buried in the garden at home. It was obvious that they were prepared to do all that we might have done had we been there, and they did so with compassion and care.

We had time to socialise with Ian and Nicky before and after both house sits. You don’t have to spend a lot of time with them before coming to know that they take their house and pet-sitting responsibilities very seriously; that they have a love for travel and getting to know new places; and are very easy to spend time with.

For all these reasons, we have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Ian and Nicky as house sitters. Your house and pets will be in very safe hands.

TESTIMONIAL

You can’t get better house and pet sitters than Nicky and Ian, as you will see from their profile they are super experienced and make things very easy. From the initial introductory call, to handover of keys as we left, to handover when we got back, they are so organised and friendly, left us feeling confident we had left our house and cats in great hands. Kept us informed of what’s going on, they asked how often we wanted updating and/or pics of the moggies. Good comms throughout and when we arrived home it was all very clean and tidy, including a homemade sourdough loaf Nicky had made for us, very welcome indeed! Hope we can align again on diaries for another sit at some time in the future.

Nicky and Ian house-sat for us for a week whilst we went to our daughter’s wedding in England. Having never left our dog before, we were naturally apprehensive, but we had absolutely no reason to worry. From the first time we met, we knew that our house, and more importantly, our dog, would be in good hands.

Nicky and Ian are seasoned house sitters, professional and trustworthy, but also personable, kind and reliable. They love animals and our dog was relaxed in their company. In fact, she looked rather sulky to see us when we came back. Communication was good throughout and we got regular updates without being too intrusive. We had, of course, cleaned the house before their arrival and were surprised to find it was even cleaner on our return. We hope to use their services again and have no hesitation in highly recommending them.

I don’t know where to start about Nicky and Ian but to say we are blessed to have found them is an understatement!

We booked the sit with them quite far in advance and Nicky was so nice keeping in touch with us that when they arrived it was like welcoming new friends.

We arranged a time for them to come and they arrived promptly. They are the uttermost professionals in what they do – they are so organised, self sufficient (Nicky even brought her own sourdough starter – very impressive !!) and took on board all the information we threw at them before we left !

A month before the sit, we sadly lost one of our dogs and Pepsi, our black labrador, was really suffering with sadness and grief at his loss. Ian and Nicky were absolutely AMAZING with her, giving her lots of lovely walks, playing with her ball – which she loves and showering her with so much love. We came back to a different dog ! Pepsi is back to her old self, settled and happy and for that, we will be forever grateful to Nicky and Ian. We can’t thank them enough for the care they gave her whilst we were away.

Just as much care and attention was shown to our chickens and cockerel – Nicky even gave them extra bedding to keep them warm during a cold spell ! Nicky regularly kept in touch whilst we were away and Ian had taken the most beautiful photos of Pepsi that we will get them put in a frame.

We returned to a very happy, well cared for dog, chickens and an absolutely immaculate house!!  It’s never been so clean !

Nicky and Ian are everything and more you could wish for in house and pet sitters. To go away and not worry one bit about your home and your animals – priceless !

Although I would love to keep Nicky and Ian all to ourselves (!!!!) I would thoroughly recommend them as professional sitters. We will definitely be using them again and really look forward to seeing them both.

TESTIMONIAL

Nicky was brilliant from start to finish. Ian was unable to sit as he had family commitments. Nick immediately put me at ease. Anya had a health crisis during the week before the sit. I wasn’t even sure we would be able to go away. However, the vet said Anya would be OK, and with the reassurance from Nicky, I decided to go. I felt so confident in Nicky that I was not worried at all. All was well. Both dogs were fine and happy. The house was perfect. It was my first experience of a house sitter. It couldn’t have gone any better. It’s the first time I have felt comfortable leaving Anya and Bella with anyone. I can’t thank Nicky enough for making the whole experience fantastic. I only hope she will be able to sit Bella and Anya again in the near future.

Ian and Nicky were such a great couple to receive! Even though we met briefly, they were so nice and fun and took really good care of Merli and our house. My boyfriend even said that they left the house “too clean” lol ???????????? They would send me pictures and videos of my baby, and even though I had a couple of flaws in my hosting skills (working on it!), they were super communicative and understanding. All the best for them!

Nicki and Ian sat for us in November for around 10 days and it could not have gone better. They are truly caring people. They cared about our two dogs, our house, and us even though we were gone. They have more experience than many people on the site, and it shows as they are very busy. From our sit in San Miguel de Allende they went to a long sit in Guanajuato, about an hour away. We had a chance to do a 5 day R&R in Cabo San Lucas. Without asking, Nicki volunteered to return to San Miguel de Allende to stay with our dogs. Ian stayed in Guanajuato. This is who they are, kind, considerate and thoughtful. Our housekeeper loved them and asked us to have them come back for our next trip. I highly recommend them, your animals and house will be in better condition than when you left.

TESTIMONIAL

When we left our house in August 2022 in the hands of Nicky and Ian, it was the first time we felt confident our property was in excellent hands.  Having had several bad experiences with housesitters in the past, we cannot express how appreciative we are for the attentiveness and care they gave to our Baja house for two months.

We had great communication with them throughout their stay, including when they had to prepare for a possible Cat 1 hurricane.  They knew how to get ready and even thought of things we hadn’t considered before.

Our house is also a vacation rental so we were so pleased that everything was in great shape when we returned for the rental season.  We had very little to do to prepare for the upcoming rental season, something that had never happened in the past.

We would highly recommend Team Nicky and Ian for any housesit!

It was a real delight dealing with Ian and Nicky and having them sit for us. Having had one holiday cancelled because of the dreaded Covid, luckily, we managed to book them again for a break in February. Their communication before the sit was excellent, asking all the right questions. We didn’t get to meet them before or after the sit due to timing issues but we felt very secure leaving our house and pets with them. They were very caring to Basil and Lupo and looked after our house beautifully. They are very warm, kind people and I would not hesitate to have them sit again (if they are free!). If they are free for your dates, you should definitely book them ASAP! Thank you Ian and Nicky!

I really don’t know where to start……Ian and Nicky are simply the nicest people you could ever wish to house sit for you! We arranged to meet up the day before we left in order to introduce them to Sydney, AKA The Big Brown Bear, and give them some info on the ducks and hens. We then had supper together and I realised that, as our very first house sit, all my worries just melted away. They kept in touch with photos of Sydney during our holiday and even Sydney had a big grin!! The house was immaculate on our return, the bedding washed and Nicky even offered to cook for us!! The flowers, wine and card were a lovely surprise! It was the best ever solution to leaving our pets and house in the care of Ian and Nicky and we cannot wait to meet up with them in the near future and hopefully they will be back to look after everything again next year. If you manage to book Ian and Nicky for your house sit, you really are in for a treat…We cannot recommend them highly enough.

Due to Covid travel restrictions we were unable to confirm arrangements until the last minute, but they took the uncertainty in their stride. Nothing was too much trouble. Nicky and Ian are a lovely, friendly, reliable, and engaging couple and bring with them a wealth of house/pet sitting experience – and it shows. Simply put, they are the very safest pairs of hands in which to entrust both your pets and home. They adjusted to the animals’ feeding/grooming/exercise/medical treatment regime with aplomb and went “above and beyond” in volunteering to accompany one of the (orientationally-challenged) hosts to an appointment in Toulouse as his navigator. Communication before the sit and while we were away was tip top. Our only regret was that, with pending re-lockdown in France, the sit had to be cut short so that Nicky and Ian could make it to their next destination. We would have them back in a shot, and, should you be lucky enough to have them apply for a sit, don’t hesitate; snap them up. Nicky and Ian, thank you both very much. Ian and Nicky have been absolutely brilliant in looking after our home in France in these exceptional circumstances. We needed a couple as we were stuck in the UK due to the virus and my husband is too poorly to travel. We cannot express enough our total gratitude for all Nicky and Ian have done for us. They took over in March just as the growing season started so they looked after the garden, even planting us vegetables for us to enjoy on our return! They also got the pool ready for summer which needed painting and everything looks so beautiful now. Also Nicky and Ian looked after our three cats and chickens plus a cockerel. Nicky sent regular updates and photos and took care of the mail. Everything was perfect. Our neighbours were also very impressed how Nicky and lan took such good care of our home and commented on what a delightful couple they are. I would highly recommend Nicky and Ian to look after your home – you would have no worries at all.

We had Nicky and Ian as our house sitters in March 2020 to take care of our home and dog. We can definitely recommend them as highly reliable! Just before the sit, Covid 19 was starting to spread more rapidly in Europe. but we had no idea how quickly the situation would evolve. Despite the circumstancs being somewhat uncertain, they came to us as agreed, and were in continual discussion throughout. Even though the lockdown hit while we were still away, and we ended up having to cut short our holiday, we worked with them to find a last-minute solution that could work for us all. It was possibly the most unusual of housesitting situations, but we were very glad they were in charge of our home and especially our beloved dog, who was very well cared for throughout.

Nicky and Ian sat our house and large pet family (3 dogs and a cat) for 10 days while we were away in August 2019.

From the start they gave us the confidence that they would be the perfect sitters for our pets. We chatted on skype a couple of times before they sat and we could tell from the beginning that they were conscientious and very thorough.  They read through the information manual that I sent them before their arrival and asked questions where clarification was required.

Everything that they promised to do they carried out, from arriving on time, to keeping us updated on our pets during our absence (sending us photos and anecdotes).

When my husband returned, even though on an early morning flight, they had very kindly already washed all the bedding and cleaned the house!  The animals obviously enjoyed their company and attention and seemed to miss them after their departure.

We rate Ian and Nicky very highly, from pre-arrival communication, to the care and attention that they paid to our pets and home during their stay.

I recommend them without hesitation.  They are the perfect couple to housesit your home and pets.10/10.

Our house was immaculately clean and tidy when we returned and Cookie had a happy, smug expression which assured us that we had made the right decision in choosing Ian and Nicky for this assignment! If that wasn’t enough, we arrived home to a lovely curry they’d prepared – one of their speciality dishes picked up after many months of travelling the world. Ian & Nicky looked after our three Chinese geese and cat over the Christmas period. They were a friendly couple who carried out all tasks asked of them. They were competent & experienced. We would gladly have them back to housesit for us should they ever return to the UK.

TESTIMONIAL
Ian and Nicky house sat for us for a month. Our prime requirement was that they look after our dog, Bertie, who was abandoned and rescued by us when he was a one-year-old. Because of this, he suffers from separation anxiety. Ian and Nicky looked after him extremely well. They were mindful of this problem and took him everywhere with them. They gave him lots of walks and affection and we returned to find a very happy and well looked after dog. We could not have asked for more and would thoroughly recommend them to look after animals.

TESTIMONIAL
What a lucky day for us when Ian and Nicky responded to our advert! Such a responsible, warm and caring couple who looked after our pets with obvious affection and conscientiousness. It was obvious that animal routines had been followed carefully but it was also plain that all of them had been given much additional love and time. On our return, we found the house immaculate and a delicious meal prepared which we all enjoyed together. We were delighted when they stayed a few extra days with us. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

TESTIMONIAL
Ian and Nicky housesat for me in Dordogne for about 5 weeks encompassing all of Sept. 2016. They left the house clean and neat, and the yard in good shape. My cat was well taken care of. I would recommend them for other housesitting jobs.
